St Augustine’s First School forms part of The Saints’ Federation with All Saints’ CE (C) First School, Denstone and St Peter’s CE (A) First School, Alton. We work closely with our colleagues at All Saints’ and St Peter’s and share a Headteacher and Governing Body. The children benefit from shared activities, sports fixtures and educational visits.

Our school aims to foster a Christian, caring ethos in which children thrive by celebrating achievement and making sure they feel valued and secure. All children are taught to respect others and they are provided with exciting learning opportunities, standards and the expectations of behaviour are high. We operate an 'open door' policy and you should always feel welcome. If you would like to come and see us, we would be delighted to show you around the school and answer your questions. We look forward to meeting you in the near future.

Children get off to a good start in Nursery and build on this further in Reception due to outstanding teaching and an exciting curriculum.
Progress in Years 1 and 2 is excellent and standards are well above average when pupils start Year 3.
Pupils continue to make excellent gains in their learning in Years 3 and 4 and by the time they leave the school at age nine standards are well above those normally found at this age.
Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities make similar progress to other pupils.
Overall pupils' achievement is excellent and especially for more able pupils in reading." - Ofsted 2009.

At St Augustine's First School we aim to prepare our students to become good citizens of the future. Through our curriculum we teach pupils British values and how to celebrate diversity. We aim to raise their awareness of radicalisation and extremist views, whatever the source. We have adopted the principles and advice found in "Keeping Children Safe in Education 2016" and the 2011 "Prevent Strategy". These are incorporated into our Tackling Extremism and Radicalisation Policy
